Part One: 0:00

In this part we concentrate on making the seams with aluminium foil, applying the release agent with consists of Carnauba wax and PVA solution.



Part Two: 06:12

In this part we lay up the fibreglass layers using polyester laminating resin, MEKP catalyst and strand matting.



Part Three: 14:33

In this part we attach the legs to the main fibreglass mother mold using pieces of wood for the legs.



Part Four: 19:27

The final part in this series of making a three-piece fibreglass mother mold. In this video, we trim the legs, drill the holes to fix the bolts in place and clean up!

Make A Two Piece Fibreglass Mother Mold | Two Part Series.



Note: On occasion we make a two piece fibreglass mother mold, but we advise to make fibreglass mother molds with at least three pieces, to avoid any problems with removing the fibreglass mother mold pieces away from the latex mold.



Part One:

NB: Correction to video: Put wax on first and then PVA - I had a brain malfunction during applying the wax and PVA during this video.



Building a two-piece fibreglass mother mold using polyester fibreglass resin, fibreglass matting & MEKP catalyst for the mother mold. Aluminium tape is used for the seam, plus PVA mold release and Carnauba wax for the mold release agent.



Part Two:

In this part we attach wooden legs using fibreglass to the fibreglass mother mold. We also drill holes for bolts to keep the mother mold secure and in place, to keep the latex mold in shape ready for concrete casting.

Many people have been asking which brand of latex we use, so we put this video up, showing the latex we use to make latex molds. The liquid latex we use to make molds is made by Polycraft and we use this brand because it has been reliable and durable. We do not prefer any brands over some others, but Polycraft latex has been tried and tested by us and we know this latex won't let us down..

Part two in the series of making a Celtic mirror frame. In this video we make the mold using silicone. The mold in this video was kind of improvised as we went along and as always, there are so many ways to achieve similar results. In hindsight, we should have planned making this mold by perhaps adding inserts and plugs, but the mold ended up as a functional silicone mold in the end. :)

Quick

Quick video using alginate to make a mold for a hand cast and an object. I had to use some out of date alginate, just to use it up and thought I would experiment with casting a hand holding an object which was/is a small ball based on a drawing I did a while back.



The video is a bit rough and ready and shows what not to do in parts, for example, pour your alginate powder into water, rather than pour the water into the alginate powder. Find yourself suitable containers to house the alginate in accordance to your project.



Try to release as much air as you can by tapping the mold after pouring the plaster of Paris into the alginate. Go careful when cutting the alginate away from your lifecast to avoid damaging your plaster of Paris cast.



The alginate used in this video is a 3/1 mix, which means 3 parts water to 1 part alginate. The plaster of Paris was mixed to a 50/50 mix, which means 1 part plaster of Paris to 1 part water or 50% water to 50% plaster of Paris.

Build A Plaque | Part One

A nice and simple way to build a plaque model by embedding objects into plaster of Paris.



In this case we use a skull model to embed into the plaster of Paris to make the plaque model, which will then be molded to make further replicas of the plaque which will be casted in materials such as concrete and resin.



This plaque model template will also be useful for embellishing with designs to create other unique plaque designs.

Part One | Alien Sculpt | Building

Sculpting an alien with Monster Clay. In this video we build the armature/foundation, add layers of clay and sculpt the alien head ready for the next video where we will be adding alien tentacles to the sculpt. The alien sculpt in the video is inspired by the alien featured in the early 1950s film, Invaders From Mars.



When the sculpture is finished, it will be molded and casted to reproduce replicas of the original sculpt.

Ammonite Fossil Fibreglass Mother Mold

Following on from the video on latex molding an ammonite fossil, we make a seven piece mother mold to house the latex mold. This video is a short and brief video showing the process and more in depth videos about molding can be found on the channel.



There are many ways to make molds and this video is showing how we make molds here at present, which is our preferred way - it works for us and what works for one person may not work for another.



The model in this video is a 500 million year old ammonite fossil which came out  of the mold in one piece. The mold which has been made from the ammonite fossil is now ready to create replica fossils with concrete or any other appropriate material which is compatible with the latex mold.
